Christmas Bouncy Castle & Inflatable Hire: A 2026 Party Guide

December is one of the busiest months in the hire calendar. School Christmas fairs, office parties, church and community events, and children's Christmas parties all want something to get people moving — and inflatables do exactly that. Because the weekends before Christmas are limited, the best units get snapped up early. Here's how to plan yours.

Christmas bouncy castles for kids' parties

Lots of hire companies carry festive-themed castles — Santa, snowmen, reindeer and winter-wonderland prints — alongside their usual range. For a children's Christmas party, a themed castle in a warm hall is hard to beat. For under-5s, soft play is often the better choice: it's lower, calmer and fits comfortably in smaller rooms (see our soft play guide).

Not every company has a Christmas-specific castle, so if a theme matters to you, ask when you enquire. A standard castle with a few decorations around it still looks the part.

School Christmas fairs & community events

For PTA fairs, church bazaars and community Christmas events, inflatables are a reliable crowd-puller — and a paid bounce can raise money for the event. A few things work especially well:

• A mid-size castle or slide in the school hall, run in timed sessions so everyone gets a turn.
• Inflatable assault courses — great for older children and races.
• Inflatable snow globes — a walk-in globe makes a festive photo spot. Some companies offer them, so it's worth asking.

If you're organising a school or community event, check the hire company's public liability insurance and that the unit is PIPA tested. Your venue or school may ask to see both. The HSE's guidance on inflatables is a useful read for organisers too.

Office & grown-up Christmas parties

Inflatables aren't just for children. For work Christmas parties and adult events, the popular picks are:

• Rodeo bulls — the classic office-party challenge, usually supplied with an operator.
• Disco domes — lights and music built in, ideal for dark December evenings.
• Adult bouncy castles — built to take grown-up weight (more in our adult hire guide).
• Inflatable games — gladiator duels, bungee runs and team challenges for the competitive crowd.

If alcohol is involved, a good hire company will have rules for when and how the equipment is used — and for adult castles and rodeo bulls, a supervising attendant is often included. Ask what their policy is before you book.

December means going indoors

Outdoor hire in December is a gamble: short days, cold, wet ground and wind. Most Christmas hire happens indoors — a school hall, village hall, function room or office space. Before you book, check:

• Ceiling height — measure it and tell the company, so they can suggest a unit that fits. Many carry lower castles made for halls.
• Floor space and access — the unit needs room around it, and the company needs a clear route in (doors, stairs, lifts).
• Power — the blower needs a nearby socket. No power at the venue? Some companies can supply a generator.
• Venue rules — some halls have their own requirements for inflatables, so check with them first.

Our indoor hire guide covers venues and ceiling heights in more detail, or browse companies that offer indoor hire.

What does Christmas inflatable hire cost?

A standard bouncy castle costs about the same in December as any other time — typically £60–£120 for a day's hire (see our price guide). Bigger items like rodeo bulls, assault courses and snow globes cost more, especially when they come with an operator. On top of that, budget for:

• Hall hire if you're going indoors — often £15–£40 an hour.
• Delivery if you're outside the company's usual area.
• Evening or weekend premiums — some companies charge more for late finishes or peak December dates.

Always get a quote that includes delivery, set-up and collection, so there are no surprises.

When to book

There are only a handful of weekends between late November and Christmas, and every school, office and community group wants one of them. The weekends just before schools break up are usually the busiest. If your date is fixed, enquire in October or early November — especially for themed castles, snow globes and rodeo bulls, which companies tend to have fewer of.

Midweek dates are often easier to get and can be cheaper, which suits office parties and school events well.
